Typing activity
For today, just concentrate on the first 12 keys (Lessons 1 and 2) from the power typing website.
Word Exercises Feedback
After looking at some of these, I realise that we need to go over when to use your space bar, your tab key and your show/hide icon. All of these help you to control the spacing and the look and feel of your writing.
The first exercises were meant to get you to type in the text without pressing enter at the end of a line. Then to get a blank line between paragraphs, we press enter for now. We will look at other ways to set the margins, line spacing and paragraph spacing at another time.
So we will try this together using the data projector. We'll see how this goes in class.
Communication Activity - Sending a message
If you miss seeing this in class today, or if you want to see it again, you will find it in the library at 658.45 COM.
This is more of a look at a scenario and then discuss:
- why the message was or was not sent to the receiver
- the effects of the message not being received
For the people that have emailed me, I have added you as authors to the class blog.
Have a go at using the full set of tools to create a post that has one of your favourite images, a link to a video or embed the video (play with it). Experiment with different fonts, colours, sizes and headings and add hyperlinks to other areas of interest (Carlton Blues footy jokes).
Once again, as other classmates add their posts, pick two different ones to comment on.
Handout notes on Google goodies
Have a look at these to see what lies ahead for the next few weeks.
For the others that haven't gotten this far (late start or just catching on)
Your homework is to:
Open a Google account and use it to sign up for
- Gmail,
- iGoogle, and
- Blogger.
