Week 1 Meet and Greet

Hi Everybody!

It was good to see that we are starting off with an interesting group of students.

My main goal for yesterday was to get everybody on line as quickly as possible.

What I would like you to try to do now is to add your comment to this post and tell me some of the things that you would like to try on a computer. For example, if you are interested in using JavaScript and HTML to create interactive web pages, then I will see what I can come up with to accommodate your interest.

Then come back in two days time, read the other comments that have been added, and add two more comments in reply.

Despite the lack of air conditioning, we managed to get through most of the items:

  1. Discussion of goal setting. Fill out the survey.
  2. First time to log in on the VU internet system.
  3. Typing speed test. Discussion of class rules, break times, etc.
  4. General Outline of Course.
  5. Schedule for the next six weeks.
  6. Your turn – questions that you may have.
  7. Start of Module 1
  8. Using a Google account (Neat!!)

I received ten emails from students in the class and I wrote back with this:

Task One
Please go to http://vetyear11businessadministrationatvu.blogspot.com/ .

Read my post for the class yesterday, then add a short comment to that post.

Come back in two days time and read the other
comments and please add two more comments as a response.

What we are trying to do here is to start off with comments on one post and then comments on the comments. This is to get you used to one way that a blog may be used.

PLEASE - do not write anything that would be embarrassing to you or your classmates or to me in the months to come. Once you put something up on the Internet, it is out of your control and will be around for what seems like forever.

Task Two
Send me another email reply that shows me that you have used some of the formatting tools at the top. Include a list of three foods, a huge heading, an emoticon and a hyperlink.

Example
Three foods that I like are:
  1. Beer
  2. Brocalli and
  3. Spinach ()
And here is my hyperlink - The Kentucky Linking Rings

All for today, Bill Oldham
