Week 3 Term 3

Goals for this week

(1) Complete some basic skill exercises in MS Word (print copy and electronic copy emailed to 0woldham8@gmail.com )
(2) Discuss How to organise daily activities in a business and complete a case study (print copy and electronic copy emailed to 0woldham8@gmail.com )
(3) Provide alternate activities for Unit 1 students that have completed the Word module already.
(4) Complete Wordpress student blog activities.

Reminder
Unit 2 is being run to get you ready for beginning Year 12 subjects next year. Two things are expected:


  • 80% attendance
  • Weekly submission of assignments


If you do not meet these requirements, then your result will be N rather than S. I enjoy having all of you there in class doing your own thang. However, I am just letting you know what is expected from you.

Activity 1 Entry level skills with MS Word
(1) Basic editing in word
(2) Creating a basic business letter
(3) More editing in Word
(4) Still more editing in Word

If you plan to work in an office, you will be expected to type a minimum of 20 words per minute with an average of only one mistake per minute. This is also a requirement if you wish to get your Certificate II in Business. You can get practice at this typing website.

Activity 2 the Start of Module 3
(1) Go to the HSC online website .

(2) Create an outline summary of the topics teams and planning and organising work from this webpage.

(3) Answer questions 1, 2 and 3 on a printed page.

Activity 3 Opening accounts

Open a Google Account and sign up for Gmail.

Open a Wordpress account and choose "Give me a blog."

Send me an email that has your Wordpress blog web address and also send me an email address that you check on a regular basis.

Activity 4 - trying new things with Wordpress

  1. Find five pictures that you like and save them to My Pictures on your computer or memory stick.
  2. Create a post in Wordpress and insert your phots in different sizes and choose a variety of rith, centre and left alignment for the lcation of the pictures.
  3. Add a widget that is a slideshow of your five images.
  4. Create another post and add a slide show to the post.
  5. Post the link of your wordpress blog to the class blog.
  6. Go to the wordpress blogs of two of your classmates and comment on their images.
