Monday Week 5 March 2, 2009

This is Week 5 of the Communication Module that we are completing this week.

By Thursday, I will let you know which work is still to be handed up.

How can this class help me?
In discussions with Susheel, he has let me know that some of you wish to move to a different subject but that you are not able to since the other classes are filled. I hope that you will keep on trying to give this class a chance. Most of the topics that we cover will be useful to you in other areas of your life - goal setting, time management, verbal and nonverbal communication skills, how to listen skills.

The other area that will be of use to you next year is the computer skills that we hope that you develop as we go along.

What should I have done by now?
  • Be able to log into the student email account.
  • Be able to log into the Google email account.
  • Be able to type 8 wpm with only 1 mistake /minute average on Lesson Three Review from Powertyping website.
  • Have opened up the following Google goodies accounts - Gmail, Gtalk, iGoogle, Blogger, Picasa, GCalendar, Google Earth, Google maps, Google Images and Google Youtube!

Work to hand up!
For this week, we are looking at using Word 2997 to format characters, paragraphs and pages. Start with the Blooming Deals notice and then go onto the Rent a Cabin flyer. Here is the second page of instructions for the Blooming Deals notice.

We also have some Word 2007 Skills sheets to try. The ones on setting tabs and using leaders will be shown to you in class on Thursday. When you have completed these, please email then to me (0woldham@gmail.com). You can find them here:
